Driver's Training

Drivers Training, Documents and Information

With the COVID-19 virus and restrictions, we have had to put our Drivers Training program on pause indefinitely.  The Northern Humboldt Union High School District puts the health and safety of our students and staff first.

Please know that as soon as we are given permission and we deem it safe, we will begin operating our program.  If you have any questions, please email or fax to: 707-839-6481.

The Northern Humboldt Union High School District offers a Driver Training course for $300. We accept cash, check or you can now pay online (see link below). NHUHSD likes to have two students drive together. Each student will receive 6-hours behind-the-wheel training and 6-hours of observation training. In order to participate in the program students must have completed a driver education course and have their permit.

We are a year-round program and offer student scheduling options for after school or weekends.

To register, please complete enrollment forms below or pick up an enrollment form at the District Office or Arcata High School in the attendance office. Please be sure to have your enrollment forms signed by the parent, student, and counselor and/or administrator prior to registering.

Once student has registered, a Driver Training Instructor will call to schedule your drive time. Generally students who sign up first will be scheduled first.

Students are eligible to take the written test through DMV to get their permit at any time after completing the driver education class. Just a reminder that the permit does not become valid until a student completes one hour of Driver Training.
